Amir Khan’s next bout has almost been finalised after reports suggest that he will fight Terence Crawford.
Unnamed sources have told Boxing Scene that the 32-year-old Bolton-born boxer wants to challenge for the 31-year-old American’s WBO Welterweight Championship at Madison Square Garden in New York City on 20th April.
According to the publication, Khan has ‘informed’ promoter Eddie Hearn that his next opponent should be Crawford, not Kell Brook.
It is expected that an official announcement for the fight will be made later this month.
Hearn revealed last month that a bout between Khan and Brook had a “50-50” chance of happening, as well as saying that it would be the “last” opportunity for the two to have a fight.
“There’s talks for the Crawford fight. I’ve spoken to Bob Arum, I’ve spoken to Amir,” Hearn told Sky Sports.

“I’m not having too much to do with that side, because I don’t want that fight.
“I want the fight that’s going to create the legacy in this country, and that’s Brook against Khan. It’s a massive fight where Amir can make twice as much money as the Crawford fight.
“But Amir seems to think the Brook fight is always there. It’s not. This is now or never, this is the last chance. Let’s give the British public what they want.

“If Amir can beat Kell Brook, he could fight Crawford after for more money than he’s going to get now. I don’t see any excuses and Kell’s right.
“I’ve been with him a long time and I signed Amir Khan with a view to make this fight with Kell Brook. I believe the British public deserve this fight.
“Amir’s got options, Kell’s got options and they are going to make their decisions. Right now I think it’s probably 50-50 whether he fights Crawford or Brook. But like I said, as far as I’m concerned this is the fight, Kell Brook.”
:bangbang: Amir Khan has reportedly decided to fight Terence Crawford next, not Kell Brook. It’s claimed he will challenge for the WBO welterweight title on April 20th at MSG, New York. [According to @BoxingScene]

Good to see Amir Khan still keen on fighting the best around rather than taking the easier option of Kell Brook in a Sheffield leisure centre

I don’t care what anyone says Amir Khan has ducked kell brook because Terrence Crawford is basically a free pass when he gets slept which he 100% will I never want to see the lad fight again he’s the biggest let down in British boxing
