You landed an interview for your dream job at your dream company. YAY! But, now what? It’s time to prepare for the interview! Put all of your nerves to rest with these 10 job interview tips that will help you have a successful interview and land your dream job.
1. Research the company beforehand
Interviewers love to ask you about the company and see if you did your ‘homework’. Prior to the interview, spend a good amount of time looking up the company and learning everything you can about it. Be prepared to answer questions about the company and showoff everything you know in your responses! This is one of the best job interview tips!
2. Be prepared to answer the question “Tell us a little bit about yourself”
You are guaranteed to get asked this questions during every interview you go on. This is the most common asked question during an interview. You would think that it is pretty easy to answer, but for most of us, it’s pretty difficult. This is your first chance to sell yourself, your skills and your experiences and you want to make sure that you make the perfect pitch. You should have a planned and practiced response for this question, so that you blow the interviewer away with your response. If you are stumped, follow this guide for the perfect formula to answer this question.
3. Eye contact
Interviews can be extremely awkward. You may catch yourself looking away while the interviewer is talking or while you are responding to a question. It is important that you maintain eye contact throughout the entire interview as eye contact helps the interviewer know that you are engaged in the entire conversation. Eye contact also always resembles confidence, and makes it seem like you know what you are talking about.
4. Always bring a printed copy of your resume
Never, and I mean never, show up to an interview without a printed copy of your resume. Just because you submitted your resume online does NOT mean that the interviewer will have a copy of it during the interview. It is always better to show up prepared then empty handed. This is one of our favorite job interview tips.
5. Prepare for common interview questions
One way to help you stay confident during an interview is to prepare for common interview questions. Some common interview questions include: Tell me a little bit about yourself. What is your biggest strength? What is your biggest weakness? Why do you want this job? Why should we hire you? You can find more common interview questions here.
6. Plan a few questions to ask the interviewer when it is appropriate
At the end of the interview, the interviewer will ask you if you have any questions for him or her. Come prepared with a few questions to ask, and don’t ever say you don’t have any questions! Some suggestions of questions to ask include: Can you tell me more about the day-to-day responsibilities of this job? What are some projects I would be asked to work on? What is the work culture like here? What do you like about working for this company? You can find more questions here.
7. Give straight forward responses
When the interviewer asks you a question, give yourself a few seconds to think before responding. The interviewer is looking for you to give a very concise, straight forward answer.
8. Dress appropriately
You know what they say, dress to impress! You MUST wear business professional attire to an interview, which means slacks, a blazer, and some nude heels. Pull your hair out of your face and wear simple jewelry, too. If you aren’t sure what to wear, check out these outfit on Pinterest for some ideas!

Review some key questions and responses that you have and get ready to kill that interview!
10. Stay Confident!
