Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis has revealed he stopped supporting Arsenal because it was “not good for his health”.

The Gunners were the Nigerian’s boyhood team when he was growing up but in recent years he’s had to end his fandom.

Simply, it got too much for Dennis, who would often burst into tears whenever Arsenal tasted defeat.

“I used to be an Arsenal fan. I like Cesc Fabregas,” Dennis told Sky Sports.

“But I’m no more an Arsenal fan. I was so much into Arsenal sometimes I could cry when they lose. That wasn’t good for me.

“So I was like, ‘nah, I’m going to stick to myself and don’t care much because it’s not good for my health’. It’s just me and myself right now.”

Arsenal are comfortably one of the biggest clubs in English football and won three Premier League titles under Arsene Wenger.

However, they have now gone 17 years without winning the league and are currently without European football this term such is their fall from grace.

Dennis was actually linked with his boyhood club as well as Manchester United in the summer but joined Watford from Club Brugge, who he had starred for in the Champions League against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Hornets paid £3.4 million for his services and the 24-year-old has been extremely impressive in his early outings in English football.

He has six goals and five assists in 14 Premier League appearances, all the more commendable considering Watford are 17th in the table.
