Deontay Wilder unleashed a flurry of wild punches to devastate Audley Harrison in the first round of his only professional fight in the UK.

The 34-year-old American star travelled to the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield back in 2013 to take on the British former boxer.

Not much action took place in the opening 40 seconds of the bout as neither fighter came out aggressively.

But Wilder, who is often criticised for his boxing skills, waited for the right opportunity to unleash his ferocious punching power.

Harrison was backed into a corner and the ‘Bronze Bomber’ immediately pounced on his prey as he landed a powerful right to rock the Brit.

Wilder then unloaded massive power punches that even had him drop to one knee while he continued to punish the helpless Harrison.

Harrison eventually slid down to the canvas and referee Terry O’Connor intervened as he pulled the Alabama-born star off his opponent.

The Brit staggered to his feet to beat the 10 count, but O’Connor waved off the fight after Harrison was visibly unfit to continue.

Wilder secured a TKO victory over Harrison and notched up his 28th professional win at the time.

“I’ve got to be realistic, it’s looking like it could be the end,” Harrison said after the match.

“It took me a lot of fortitude and persistence to get back to this position and it’s going to be hard to come back from here.

“I felt sharp and comfortable in there but he caught me with a big shot.

“I took a knee and he was still throwing punches. I wanted to continue, I had my senses about me.

“This one is going to be a hard one for me to take.”

Harrison announced his retirement from boxing only a month after the Wilder clash.

The 48-year-old later admitted that he would make a U-turn on his initial retirement, only for those plans to fall through and officially called it time on his career in 2014.
