The Moroccan tourism sector continued to record strong performance indicators in 2025, with the number of visitors to the Kingdom reaching approximately 19.8 million tourists, achieving remarkable growth of 14 percent compared to 2024. This unprecedented achievement puts Morocco just steps away from breaking the 20 million tourist mark for the first time in its history.
According to official data issued by the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social Economy, and Solidarity, this remarkable development reflects the entry of national tourism into a new phase characterized by maturity and sustainable recovery, following years of challenges related to global health and economic crises.
In a statement, the Ministry explained that this positive performance embodies the tangible results of the 2023–2026 Tourism Roadmap, which was based on a set of structural projects, most notably strengthening air connectivity with international markets, expanding the capacity of tourist accommodation establishments, and diversifying the tourism offerings to include cultural, nature, sports, and business tourism.
The efforts made to improve the quality of tourism services and stimulate private investment across the Kingdom have contributed to enhancing Morocco's attractiveness as a tourist destination, in line with the demands of international tourists and the evolving patterns of global tourism consumption.
In terms of revenue, the sector recorded record tourism earnings of 124 billion dirhams in foreign currency by the end of November 2025, an increase of 19 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. This reinforces tourism's position as a key driver of economic growth and a significant source of job creation and support for the balance of payments.
In this context, Fatima Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social Economy, and Solidarity, affirmed that Morocco's approaching 20 million tourist arrivals in a single year reflects the profound transformation the sector is undergoing, thanks to the insightful vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. She noted that Moroccan tourism has become more efficient and sustainable, with a direct positive impact on local development and the national economy.
The Ministry considered 2025 to be a pivotal strategic milestone in the development of the tourism sector, opening up new horizons in line with the Kingdom’s ambition to attract 26 million tourists and consolidate Morocco’s position as a leading tourist destination regionally and internationally by 2030.
