Moroccan exports of frozen raspberries to France reached record highs in 2025

Moroccan agricultural exports continue to strengthen their presence in European markets, registering remarkable performance in several value-added products, most notably frozen raspberries, which achieved a new breakthrough in the French market during 2025.

According to recent data from EastFruit, a platform specializing in tracking fruit and vegetable markets, French imports of frozen raspberries and blackberries from Morocco reached approximately 1,950 tons during the first ten months of 2025, with a value of nearly $5.8 million.

According to the same source, this figure represents a 25% increase compared to the same period last year, and exceeds the record set in 2022 by 5%, reflecting a clear recovery in Moroccan exports after the decline experienced in 2023.

East Fruit highlighted that this performance reaffirms the upward trajectory of Moroccan frozen raspberry exports to the French market over more than two decades. The first official shipments date back to 2003, when exported quantities did not exceed 58 tons, before experiencing gradual growth driven by the expansion of cultivated areas, improved agricultural techniques, and rising European demand for high-quality frozen products.

Morocco did not manage to surpass the 1,000-ton mark in exports to France until 2021. However, 2022 marked a turning point, reaching record levels that enabled it to enter the list of the top five frozen raspberry suppliers to the French market for the first time.

Despite the decline recorded in 2023, data for 2025 confirms that Moroccan exports have regained momentum, supported by improved production and stable supply chains, putting them back on an upward trajectory.

As of October 2025, France ranked fifth among the top destinations for Moroccan frozen raspberries, accounting for approximately 7% of total exports. This occurred within a highly competitive market that is among the largest in Europe in terms of frozen raspberry imports, both for direct consumption and for industrial use in the confectionery and food processing sectors.

The platform indicated that Serbia and Poland continue to dominate French frozen raspberry imports, together supplying nearly half of the total imported volume. Meanwhile, Ukraine strengthened its position in third place for the second consecutive year, having doubled its exports to the European Union in recent years.

In 2024, Belgium and Cyprus were among the top five suppliers to the French market. However, the decline in Cypriot shipments this year has opened the door to fierce competition for fifth place, currently held by Morocco, alongside competitors such as Germany and Chile.

East Fruit believes that Morocco's ability to maintain or improve its position in the French market will depend on key factors, including stable production, control of freezing and transportation costs, and strict adherence to the health and environmental standards imposed by European markets.
