Moroccan exports of mandarins and clementines to the German market witnessed remarkable growth during the 2024-2025 season, achieving their best performance in history and strengthening the Kingdom's position among the leading European suppliers of these fruits.
According to data from the specialized platform EastFruit, exports between October 2024 and September 2025 reached approximately 8,200 tons, generating $12.1 million in revenue. This represents a record increase of 60% compared to the previous peak, and marks the first time revenues have exceeded $10 million.
Although the German market has not been a traditional destination for Moroccan citrus fruits, its importance has increased significantly this season, representing 1.45% of Morocco's total mandarin and clementine exports. Germany also climbed to 11th place among the largest importers from the Kingdom.
The mandarin and clementine export season typically begins in October, peaking between December and March, with January recording the highest shipment volume at approximately 1,500 tons. Unusually, the current season maintained strong activity during April and May, reflecting the development of Moroccan supply capacities and increased demand outside of the traditional export periods.
In the German market, Spain continues to lead the list of suppliers with a share exceeding 76%, followed by South Africa at 11% and Italy at 4%. Despite the dominance of these countries, Morocco managed to increase its share to 2.5%, compared to 1.3% last season, rising to fourth place ahead of Turkey and Greece.
Data also indicates an expanding Moroccan presence in other agricultural products, with sweet corn exports expected to reach a record high this season, demonstrating the growing dynamism of Moroccan agricultural exports within European markets.
