Yunyi Electric Expands to Tangier with Major Automotive Electronics Plant

In a strategic move that underscores the growing appeal of Morocco within global value chains, Jiangsu Yunyi Electric Group, a leading Chinese manufacturer of smart automotive electronic components, announced a $66 million investment to establish a fully integrated industrial site in the Kingdom. This project, approved by the company's board of directors on December 30, 2025, aims to create a wholly-owned subsidiary that will serve as a pivotal production base outside of China, enhancing the company's international expansion capabilities and ensuring the sustainability of its industrial operations geared towards global markets.

The Chinese group selected the Mohammed VI Tangier Tech City, near Tangier, as the location for its new project, leveraging the unique geographical location of northern Morocco and its proximity to major ports and European and African supply chains. The project's financing will cover all operational aspects, from acquiring industrial land to constructing production units and purchasing fixed assets, relying on the group's own resources. This reflects the strong confidence in the Kingdom's investment climate and the guarantees it offers to high-value foreign companies.

This significant investment is a practical response to Beijing's recent calls for its companies to increase their presence in Morocco, especially after trade between the two countries reached record levels, exceeding $9 billion in 2024. Moroccan-Chinese economic relations are experiencing exceptional momentum, with the Chinese Ministry of Commerce describing Morocco as a "fertile and stimulating" environment thanks to its tax and logistical incentives, and its leading role in the automotive sector, which has become the backbone of the national industry and a magnet for high-tech investments.

On the Moroccan side, this project aligns with the strategic vision adopted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to deepen local industrial integration, particularly in light of the Kingdom's preparations to host major events such as the 2030 FIFA World Cup, and the accompanying surge in infrastructure and technological solutions. With Yunyi Electric joining a list of more than 40 Chinese companies that have chosen to establish themselves in Tangier Tech, Morocco is solidifying its position as an unrivaled regional industrial hub, capable of providing an integrated work environment that combines manufacturing, research, and innovation in future-oriented sectors.

Morocco’s success in attracting these investments in smart electronic components not only contributes to creating thousands of jobs and expanding the export base, but also moves the national industry from the stage of mechanical assembly to the stage of “artificial intelligence” and digital components, which enhances the economic sovereignty of the Kingdom and makes it an indispensable partner in the future of sustainable and smart mobility at the continental and international levels.
